Hi guys,
My 262 diesel crankshaft pulley has quite a groove in it from the timing cover oil seal. What is the best way to repair this? Can it be machined down with a thin sleeve then installed over this smaller diameter?
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
Terry

a Speedi-Sleeve might work for you.
check with your local bearing outfit, or search online.
just be very careful putting it on.

Yes, there is a Speedy Sleeve available. I have one installed on my ft pulley. I'm pretty sure I still have the box for it in my tool box at work. I'll look for it tomorrow. Otherwise, take your pulley to a bearing supply shop and they should be able to get you one. Seems like it was about $40.

I put a speedi-sleeve on my d19 diesel this past spring. I took the pulley to carquest and they measured it up and had it there the same day.

When the crankshaft pulley on my dad's 1954 Ford 6 developed a little groove, we put on a new seal in the timing cover but didn't push it all the way to the bottom of the hole so the seal sat on an unworn part of the pulley. Worked for the next 50,000 miles. We probably used Permatex as a seal anchor and spacer.
