I have my eyes on a Allis G with a nice set of cultivators on it. It could use some cleaning up and paint (it's obviously been used for cultivating in larger sized vegetable fields not far from me) but it appears to be nice and straight with decent tires. Even though they are pretty simple in design they are still foreign to me I know WD's and D17's because that's what I have always had but as far as a G (I never even drove one) but I like them because of the excellent visibility. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for? any weak spots to check? etc. Thank's Dennis.

Hi Allen, thank you! I think I'm going to go for it. Allen, I seem to remember it mentioned that the engines were continental engines am I remembering right? if so were they all continental engines? did Allis ever make their own engine at any time for these units? are engine parts fairly easy to come by?....... I hate to bother you with so many questions but I'm really interested in this little tractor and it seems like you may be the only one that knows anything about them. Thank you very much Allen. Dennis.

All of them had the continental engine, from what I understand Allis never made a motor that small. The continental N62 was used in the Massey-Harris Pony I believe along with other equipment although the motors are not an exact swap some of the parts interchange and replacement parts are available but not always cheap.

Dennis, Run don't walk and see if you can get that G. They are somewhat rare and in this area bring around $ 3,000 running and in fair shape.
You know, we sometimes sold several G's to certain customers. They were so cheap at the time - $ 680 FOB Alabama - that it was easier to leave the implements on them then it was to change them.
Good Luck!

Hi Dennis, I would suppose by now you have already went for the G, if not go for it. I recently acquired 2 of these guys, one restored and one not so restored but seems to be in good shape. I am probably going to try and find another as these are great little machines, now I'm looking for "stuff" to go with them. Good hunting and good luck.

Anybody have a GR? They are a diesel version built at the Allis plant in France. Wouldn't mind one of those.

That sounds like it would be an interesting tractor Lonn. Wonder what horsepower the diesel is rated at?

I think I read at one time around 20 hp. The truck farmers over there wanted a more powerful G if I remember what I read.
