I've recently inherited a wd that used to run. Prolly bin 10 years or so. Got it turning over well and the carb cleaned. Still couldn't get it to run. Today I did a compression test. No compression on the middle two cylinders. So I pulled the valve cover and the exhaust valves are stuck open. Any old school tricks to loosen them without pulling the head.

Lots of penetrating oil from the top side. Get about 10 ft of nylon rope small enough in diameter to shove down inside the spark plug hole (5/16" ?) while the piston is at BDC. Have a knot tied in the rope so you don't lose it. Turn engine over by hand with all that rope coiled up inside. Rinse and repeat for the second cylinder.

KROIL will help free them up. KREEN is even better than KROIL for stuck rings and valves.
KREEN is made by KANO Laboratories, Nashville, Tn.

besides the penetrant, tapping on the end of the valve can help SHOCK it.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

take the rocker shaft off and start tapping on the valves with a plastic or rubber hammer besides you will need to make sure allof them move smooth.     and you will need to replace the push rods that got bent when you got it to roll over
