Back in the late '50's-early '60's, there were some companies that would re-lug tractor tires. A farmer I was working for at the time had just had his tires re-lugged on his "M" Farmall and looked good and seemed to hold well. They were installed like a retread, only on the bar and a little base perimeter also. I had taken it to the field pulling his 3 bottom plow and he was checking the lugs very closely before he went on to do Cat work.
Has anyone else had any experience with this, can or will retreaders still do this? Edited by JoeO(CMO) - 31 Oct 2010 at 7:43pm |

Any way to tell if a tire has been re-lugged? I have some old Goodyears that tire guy said looked like they may have been, can tell there are different layers.

At work they had some 25" tires on a mid-sized Caterpillar loader relugged about a month ago. I'll try to remember to take some pictures tomorrow and find out how they're holding up.

The relug appearance I remember had like steps around a wall, each layer was approximately 3/8 inch smaller than previous layer, 4 total and final was the lug itself. HTH
