A customer of mine was featured in a local paper w/ his 72:
Of course, I had to add my two cents in the comments section.
I was told that the big operator here runs a IH 2388. He inspected the 72 doing its thing and declared it was doing a better job than his IH..This was in 60 bushel soybeans too....... Ahh that warms the cockles!

Highland and Alhambra is not far from my cousin's place at Greenville; they at one time used Allis corn pickers and a pair of Gleaner combines later. The old farm was originally a dairy farm, it has evolved to a grain only producer.

Ryan - great story - cool to get local press. I agree about the wheat...seems some of the hottest day of the year come during late June for Wheat harvest. It's bad enough now in my EIII with the shade of my cab and a fan to blow on me. I did six acres of wheat with my 66 and D17 in 2007 and boy was that hot. Mike

Mike,
If you think it is hot on the tractor, try riding all day tying bags off on a 60 bagger combine.... I spent too many summer days in my youth doing just that.
It was a lot more fun to do it at the Orange Spectacular on Lonn's machine, and on Joe's 40, than it was back then!

Glenn - at least you were riding...I'd take that over hauling in clover square bales in 100+ heat. Got WAY too much of that in the summer of 1980. Mike

Great job, man. I used to live down the road from Highland in Beckemeyer . My in-laws are all over Clinton county. There are several Allis fans out there, but I think the IH and Deere guys outnumber us.
