Hello,
I'm pulling the head to troubleshoot engine problems on this tractor. Following the I&T book it appears I have done everything necessary to prepare the head for removal. I have removed all the necessary lines, removed all the head nuts, etc. I tried to pick it with an engine crane and a sling but it seems to be stuck pretty well and I didn't want to put too much force on it until I consulted the experts for advice. This is my first time doing any major work on a diesel engine so I'm unsure what exactly I should be expecting. Advice? Thanks, Erik |

a stud remover or 2 nuts jamed together. If you dont have the puller dont mess with them mainly due to you will have to torque them back into place.

dont pull the studs, you just need to break the gasket loose. creative use with a prybar will release it. good luck.

I always use a short (12") or so length of 2X4 and a hammer to break loose heads that are stuck. Use it in several places around the head and it will free it up . HTH God Bless.

Remove the injectors from the head before removing if it is a direct injection style.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll grab a small prybar and give it a go.
