I ordered from the local Allis dealer the bearing that goes in the bottom of the narrow front pedistal on a 1950 WD.
Was told today that the bearing in discontinued. Anyone know where i can find one?

Take the old one to NAPA. They should be able to cross it.

I called another AC dealer and they said they could order it.
I did take it to the napa store. They said they could get anything close enough to work.

Do you have any local bearing shops by you? I have one right down the road. Anything I bring in there, they can find me, and I mean anything. I have had only one or two times that they had to order it, as they have most things in stock. If there are any numbers on it, or if you have a mic and can measure things etc. I would give them a call as the guy behind the counter has to be one of the most knowledgable people I have ever worked with. The name of the place is Bearings, Inc. Germantown, WI.

Stuck it in my parts manual but never had to use it so I can't say
for sure the info is correct. Edited by Brian G. NY - 21 Oct 2010 at 12:54pm |

If it happens to be the same as a D17, the AGCO number is 70235079 for the bearing. I threw the box away but have both the bearing and cup in my hands. Bearing is Koyo 355A cup is NTN 4T-354A. Looks like they could be the same. There is a seal also CR 25078. AGCO number 70229102. The seal looks nothing like the original, but the dimensions are the same. Bill at Sandy Lake advised me to just pack the new bearing with grease like you would for a wheel bearing and not worry about trying to fill the housing with 90 wt.

Not wanting to start a riot.....but not all bearings are the same. Koyo bearings are junk and wouldn't put them in a Fisher Price toy. Most tractor dealers have over priced bearings for the truthful low quality bearing. I have just completed a full final drive rebuild for a CA. That is 8 bearings, 8 races, and 6 seals for $230.00 using only quality parts (Timken or Bower for race/bearings, CR for seals). Let's think about what they came out with....mostly Timken and some Bower. With the modern lubricates of today, our kids can use these machines without problems. I use Applied Industries!
