 Has anyone else had trouble with the drawbars either bending or breaking on these tractors. The drawbar I have on my 7060 now was bent from a 800 bushel grain cart. Another 7060 thats parts now had a drawbar broke and welded back together, and when I got my 7030 the last 10" was missing off its. Im wanting to pull this cart again but didnt know if anyone knew of a way to keep it from bending. Ive seen chains under them going to the 3 point arms but my 3 point arms leak down. thanks

As large as those drawbars were, they were NOT very strong and were NOT heat treated. A drawbar from an 8070 is heat treated and is stronger and maybe a 7080 is as well.  It may be just as well to build a brace to go to the top link bracket of the three point so you don't have to depend on hydraulics to hold it.....hard part would be making it wide enough to still use your PTO.

Im not sure what the tongue weighs, but its a unverferth 8200 cart. Would a 8070 drawbar slide through my little hanger on the back?

I would say it will fit in the same hanger.  If not, get the hanger with the drawbar.  Unless they changed from a 7080 to an 8070..it should be the same for all 7000/8000 series.

What kind of material would an original drawbar have been made of? 1020, 1040, 1080???  I have a bent one too and would like to make myself a new one.

Alot of drawbars die under big-balers.  I've seen them with mild steel bracing on Deeres.  If I was pulling heavy loads with AC I would build a channel brace under the draw bar and run it from up front to almost the back and bolt under where the hanger is.  Maybe remove the draw bar hanger all together.  We had one break under a 5000 gallon manure spreader, but thats really pushing the limits of good luck anyways.

I called the local A/C salvage yard today and asked about a 7080 or 8070 drawbar, but he didnt have anything. He said he has a new aftermarket drawbar for the 7060 that might be stronger for $280. I seen a 7580 parts tractor out there last time I was there, would that drawbar work on it? Ive thought about welding a broken one to it and making a hammer strap out on the end but I would have to make a new hanger and it would be a little bit overkill.

We've had our Brent 772 cart behind the 7045, 7060, 8050.  Never moved it farther than a few feet to load the semi.  My opinion is way too much weight for drawbar to handle.  Loaded weight is between 40-50,000 lbs, plus the weight of the cart.  Driving across the field with the load bouncing even slightly will keep snapping the drawbar, I would think.  On John Deere tractors, there is a HD drawbar option, which is the regular drawbar with a chunk of steel or cast bolted to the bottom of it.  The 7580 drawbar wouldn't be overkill for that application, it's about what is needed.

I found a used 8070 drawbar at a salvage yard for $150 plus $40 to get it here. Sounds like a good deal to me, if you think its going to be stronger than my 7060 drawbar.

If it is truly an 8070 drawbar, it will be stronger. Will it be strong enough?? .... I have no idea what the tongue weight is and probably you don't either. You still may need extra bracing/support.

Try a 7580 drawbar. I believe they are heavier built.

I just kind of thought of this, but do you have the draw bar in as far as it will go?  I know on our Ford tractors there are 3 holes for usable positions (4 counting the hole for all the way in like when you have a plow) (16" 14" and another one pretty far up that is like 8" behind the PTO).  That 3rd one is used for heavy tongue loads, not for PTO work, as it is the wrong geometry for an equal angle drive.  Not sure if that is the case with the Allis drawbars or not, but even if not, it might be worth considering drilling a 3rd hole that moves the drawbar in closer to the tractor to keep less of a bending moment on the drawbar.

This one has 2 holes about 2 or 3" apart. When I bent it it was out all the way and I didn't think about sliding it in to the next hole until after. When its all the way in my hammer strap on top is only about 1" from the hanger so I couldn't slide it in any further. Thanks for the advice though
