Do any of you Allis guys have any gas pumps on your farm that you would consider getting rid of?

Are you referring to the glass barrel type with a hand pump? They are neat when old cars, trucks and tractors are around.
In the '80's I was looking for one-never did find one that was reasonable.
I found some at a salvage yard in the SE part of Austin, TX, one here in Jefferson City on a patio, it being refitted and used for a drink dispenser for parties, a few southwest of town and about that time we moved, lost my shop where I wanted to put it and that put me out of the market for one, good luck and I do hope you find one. They are out there.

A 4H kid restored one of those "hand pump into the glass reservoir" types and had it displayed at the Ia State Fair this year. I remember reading he had gotten many parts for it from a place in Omaha called Gas Pump Heaven if I remember correctly. |

I had 2 of those I could not give away 20 yrs ago. This place had a old time store & gas pumps in the 50's. Notice the $ price was in single digits & price per gal only went to .49.9.Wish I'd have kept them & the Phillips 66 sign that was here...Harvey

Here are my 2 pumps, 1928 wayne visible and a 1922 wayne pre-visible, the insides are intact but they are decoration and conversation pieces only. They both have lights wired in the globes that come on with the yard lights.

I would want the 19 cent gas, remember the gas wars? I don't remember what dad was paying for farm gas then, don't know if single digit or not, but do remember the 19.9 for highway, gas war price, and long time 23.9 when I got my license.
We had one on the farm, jobber offered to trade for a tank with stand, no charge and dad allowed it, who would have thought the old pump would be worth anything, pain to pump it into the glass tank from under ground, then drain into the tractor tank.

I know it's the wrong color, but I painted this "farm "pump a few years ago. "Farm" pumps only read gallons and didn't read a price.

I bought it for 0.88 cents when I was in my early 20's. I remember some 0.79 cent gas, but that is as low as I can remember buying. It should still be less than 1.00 as I see it anyway.

The pumps look good too. I really like the old Texaco pumps, but the Oliver one is over the top too. I lost myself in yesterday the first time. |

When I graduated from high school in 1976, one of our teachers gave a list of predictions to our class. One was, "you will live to see gas sell for a dollar a gallon".
We had not even seen fifty cent gas yet, and that just seemed unbelievable at the time!

My dad used to get a 45 gallon durm of gas for about 10.00$ when I was a kid in the late 50's. By the time I started driving it was up to about .45$. Guess that means I'm not young anymore....

Mid '80's, I found some in SE Austin, TX starting at $500, and others $1200-1500 when I quit looking in '92, all as-is, complete.
I had flown to Austin for other business and had no way of getting it on as carry-on baggage. Edited by JoeO(CMO) - 09 Oct 2010 at 7:14am |

The big ticket pumps I'm seeing here are completely restored. Saw one yesterday at close to $10,000. Don't remember details - all a blur now - there are (supposedly) 10,000 dealers here!

Thanks guys, more fodder for the family. Someone gave me $50.00 for the 2 working ones here & I got rid of them. My wife & kids say I never get rid of anything unless its valueable, then I give it away & leave the junk. I say its MY junk and it will sell good on the wagon someday...Harvey
