Is this a no. 73? I want to get a manual off of ebay for it. I just like having manuals for stuff, dont ask me why. Also just curious if you can get shins shares and moldboards for these old things? I have a donor plow but its kinda tough in that area.
I gave it a quick spit shine. What do you think?

Cant quite see what I need to be sure, If the frame adjusts 14"-16" then it is a model 73. if not it is a 63. Some parts are available for some bottoms, most are not. You need the bottom numbers, not the plow model numbers to check on parts. Bottom numbers were on decals on the back of the moldboards and also stamped into them somewhere on the back, sometimes they have to be removed to find the numbers.

Yeah the frame slides in and out to widen it. It looks like it would be a debacle to even try that now!

Yup looks like a 73, with guage wheel and semi mount wheel, kinda tricked out for a 73. The guage wheel should be white like the rear wheel and the standard and bracket for the guage wheel should be black. I have a 4 bottom semi mounted and couple of three point 74s. They plow good. Yours looks nice too!! |

I agree it is a #73, But is that a mounted plow that some one added the tail wheel or is it a semimount plow? the beaming screw looks different?

The donor plow was a semi mount. I pirated the tail wheel and brackets and the beaming screw and brackets off of it. It should be all correct as far as I can tell. It was a mounted plow but it makes the front end of my 45 pretty light in the field and on the road slowing down can get dicey sometimes. So rather than spend hundreds on weights for the front of the tractor I found the donor plow for scrap price and changed all the parts over. I just hit the rusty spots with primer and quicly sprayed it orange. Not restored by any means just "pretty".
As for the colors I painted the tailwheel silver to match the rear rims on my 45. I didnt want to paint the guage wheel all silver and make it look like a total rattle can resto.
Someday in the future when I have the place and the means its gonna get torn down and sandblasted and painted properly. This'll have to do till then.... Edited by Roddo - 04 Oct 2010 at 11:38am |

Given that the fasteners are not rusted tight it's not as big a deal as it appears. We had a neighbor who regularly moved his 73 in or out depending on field conditions. I own one that is set out to 16",, and staying there, LOL.
