 Topic: A-C Model 95 Chain Saw

I recently acquired an Allis-Chalmers 95 chain saw. Looks to be in pretty good shape. Any starting instructions that any one might have?? I'm guessing just pull the choke all the way out and pull the cord? If it starts than push the choke all the way in and then give it one last pull? What to do if it doesn't start? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Put some pure gas in the tank. Slosh it around and dump it. Put in the correct fuel-oil mix and then try to start. Most of these old ones worked okay on 24 to 1 mix or go by the manual if you have one. Check plug as well.

Its really a Poulan 361. If it is a runner already, then you pretty much have the starting proceedure down pat. If it hasn't run in a while, it is good sense to clean the tank, check out the fuel lines, and clean the carb. Carb kits are available. For more info you need to go to Arboristsite.com and check out the chainsaw forum. Lots of good folks there.

They incorrectly note that the 95 was based on the 306, Actually, the 195 was based on the 306(A)

If it has not run in a while, you may want to take the spark plug out, give it a good cleaning, then heat the end of it up with a little propane torch.

I like the AC chainsaws. Just more proof that AC was probably the biggest overall company at one time. Hope to see a collection like this. It is the only known collection of all the chainsaws sporting the Allis-Chalmers name in the world. Or so the website says.

Is that saw on the top step really a Wright saw? My Dad bought one new and expected me to be able to use it. It would shake and vibrate so bad it was impossible to use.

Yes, it's a Wright, but by that time, they were built by Poulan using the 306A as a basis. Not much for cutting firewood, but were used mainly by carpenters and in the slaughterhouses to section carcasses.
