Friday night luck as usual .Cut a tire down on the trailor when I pulled into the Fair grounds .Had that to fix no spare .Then came the pulls . Had a decent run going on friday night in 5000 lbs class tractor was pulling second gear well then the govenor weights exploded . revs went high broke traction and spun out . still a decent run good enough for second place. Got home at one saturday morning couldnt sleep wondering what all damage was done. Got up at seven went back to fair grounds with a extra gov. Installed it thought I had everything back to the same tune as friday night but I was wrong . I was the only guy there Saturday with a tractor that shakes the ground literally and laid down runs like a piece of junk gov. surging spinning the tires every time it surged . Came back home with a broken starter bendix and fridays trophy . Oh well to say I am wondering now of my tuning duplication ability and know how is probably a good conclusion . Seams my bottom quote applies to me. Sorry to let the allis fans down I promise I will try to get a better hold on what is going on with it.

Even though you took home the 2nd place trophy, your competitors knew that 1st place would have been riding home with you if not for the govenor weights problem. You know thats whats in the back of their minds. It would be in mine! John Force has bad days too. You didn't let me down. It's a learning experience! Keep the Faith.

At least i wasnt the only one with trubble. The pull i went to yesterday, they tried kicking me out of stock because i had an electric fuel pump, second time this has happened now, apparently they had 30hp or something. Pulled in 5000lbs, spun out with the front end a foot and a half in the air, drive up to the trailer, got off and fluid is pooring from the left side of the tractor, run over a look, lost the adjusting needle from the carb, you would think the needle would be where the puddle of fuel was, nope couldnt find it. so i scratched in 6000lbs. At least i took home 2nd and 30 bucks. Sounds like you had a rough weekend though ml. Better luck next time for the both of us.

still looking for the blue line to know the timming is correct but cant find it for the white calcified color. I think the gov. surging is from fuel delivery not being sufficient at full load . but i could be wrong in the info I am interpeting from the plugs.

Ya win some and ya loose some. Some times it is better to be lucky, than good. I'm disappointed too after the rod ratio, ring placement, etc. discussions. Up here , were done for the year, nothing but "bench racing" or pulling til next spring. You should have more pulls to go to where you are at to test your theories . Mebbe you'll get the other , good kind of luck.

yes garry the rod ratio ring theroy is working pretty well . Its needs 18.4 38 tires and a larger clutch even with a surging gov. dont have enough clutch to hold road gear with the sled attached to it . black smoke rolls from the bell housing.

Second place Friday is a pretty good feat. You do a lot of work. I am sure you will get a first place finish soon. Good Luck! |

I like the attitude! Second is first loser. You've got it right. First Place is the only answer.

Sorry I missed the pull, I had planned on going, but had to much work to do, Hay balers to fix and equip to move. Did they have 4.5 mph speed limit on the super class? The H farmall beat everything last year. Sam T-Ga.

speed limit was 5.5 mile an hour for the farm and antique tractors with 100 ft to get your speed correct.

Hopefully you didn't wind up with fragments going any farther than bottom of the pan.

I like a challenge. Too much time and money in it to trash. Just need to back up and see what is going on. Governor weights may be weak link. May need to Tim Taylor it, just like the rest of that motor. Remeber, stronger=faster=better.

After watching that video, I can't help but wonder if the gene pool is going to have a few fewer swimmers...
