I'm thinking of installing the 3500 MK II engine I have on the forum construction section in my 220 and cranking up the power considerably. I want to pull a Blue-Jet Tillage Pro with 7 shanks at 20" spacing and 2" points. I've been borrowing either a JD 8400, JD 8100 or MX200. I can either use 30.5 x 32" rears or 20.8 x 38" duals on A-C Mexican cast centers. I also know where there is a pair of 1500 lbs Tyler inner rear wheel weights that were on a D-21. I do not want to use liquid ballast. Which combo will give me the most traction in wheat stubble?

Calvin,
My son bought a new loader tractor with 34 inch rubber and put sugar beet juice in the tires for weight. Went tubeless and the beet juice will not rust the rims. It weighs about 2 lbs. less than calcium chloride |

my 220 has 650/65r38 deep tread michelins(singles) with 1750 of cast per tire on the rear. You can let the tires down to about 15lbs and it will pull like a mule. Dad uses it on the scraper and calls it the locomotive on wheels. It dynoed@192hp. You might want to put a boost and EGT gauge on it because 1150 degrees comes up easier then you will think. Once you worp the head it's too late!

I would think 20.8 dueled would give you 42 " of rubber but 30.5 with 18.4 38 is a commen combination in our area Then pop off duels and you still have a awsom tractor for the not so demanding jobs. lots of traction + lots of power can we say poor clutch , two disc? maby in the future.

The tractor had a aftermarket cab on it when i bought it, i took the cab off and decided that i like the bracket and left it on. One thing when you turn yours up make sure you put a new water pump on and have your radiator boiled out and you wont have any problems with it heating up. |

If you look at my post about the 3500 engine on the construction section, you will see what I'm planning. My 220 has a fresh rebuuild but I'll put that engine into a 210 basket case that I bought with a bad engine. I'll also install a EGT gauge. I'll be using it in the fall when its cooler.

Calvin, I think you'll actually get better traction with the duals than the large singles. The duals will bite more versus act as flotation with the large singles. |
