I have just purchased a Model C without hydraulics. I plan to add a three point hitch.
I am unsure on where the pump was mounted.

The pump is mounted on the rear pumpkin and is driven off the PTO shaft. The Allis pump is Hi-Pressure, low volume; especially the one that came with the C. Pump is the same same the B series Allis.

I don't know about the C, but some of the early B's that didn't have hydraulics, didn't have the cam lobes on the pto shaft to run a hydraulic pump. You might want to pull the plate off (under the seat) where the pump bolts up and see if there are cams on the shaft.

Ron, If you have a very early B yes as Charlie says you will first need to upgrade your PTO/Belt pulley. You can easily see if you have the lobes without removing the cover. Look and see if it is a small round cap with no bolts or if it is a square cover bolted on it will have lobes. If that is the case all that is needed is a pump, ram, and if you wish to have a two way plow a LH ram and a selector valve and some plumbing. You may find this on the vendors who advertise here or you can check on e-bay under Allis Chalmers. Sometimes one pops up. Good Luck! Bill Long |
