Ever notice depending what your color bias is that when you hear of a tractor being referred to by merely a letter or number it can evoke more than one kind of tractor. Some examples:
At least when you hear WC,WD, WD45, or D with a letter behind it there's no confusion. I wonder why these companies for the most part were not more imaginative in their naming schemes. MM named the "Jet Star" because Massey Harris beat them to the three digit number they would have otherwise used. I'm sure others can think of more of the same...Kip

Speaking of Alphabet, does anyone have a compleat Alphabet tractor colection from A to Z. I have a good share of them an A farmall, cant afford an Allis A, to a MM Z. Richard

You make a good point.
Around these parts, it is mostly Farmall when it comes to antique tractors. If someone says "A~B~C~H~M", you should automatically think red. When someone refers to an orange or green tractor, they almost always say "Deere AO" or "Allis B", unless, of course, they are using identifiers only found on Allis, like the WD-45. With that, the person would just say "WD-45". With all that said, this is just my experience growing up in our area.
