I got tired of other folks at the tractor shows having the nice signs made at a sign shop, so I made my own. Took a piece of oak and a woodburner and made this one. Also made a buddy of mine one for his 8N Ford with the Ford emblem of course. Dad had to have one for his JD A so he now has one with the leaping deer. What do you guys think?

Excellent! I know I would be proud to have one of those signs on my tractors. The "professionals" have a reason to be concerned.

If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

I've got to give some credit to Microsoft Word, images found on the internet, a good printer, and a nice piece of carbon paper. Doing stuff like this relaxes me and helps with my stress levels.

Jamie, my fellow Kentuckian, I will have to try to think of somethig to out do this. I believe you might start thinking your hot stuff if someone don't put you in your place pretty soon. LOL!
Now seriously that is cool and I have to confess that I'm, as usual, somewhat jealous.

I like it. Might have to experiment a little on some scrap lumber.

It depends on the coloring of what ever picture that I'm using. I'll find a pic on the net, save it to my pictures, then I may do a little photo editing to make it a little more black and white. Seems to be a lot easier to trace. Place some carbon paper under the pic and trace it out. I usually will tape one end of the picture down so that it doesn't move on me. This also gives me the chance to lift one end to see it as I'm working on it. I'm sure that everybody is not a UK (University of KY) fan, but here's one that I did for a friend of mine at work... ![]() |

Nice signs! Question is, which museum did you steal the carbon paper from? LOL

I call it carbon paper... not sure if that' what it's actually called??? I use the black paper that comes with my receipt books that makes a copy as you write. I have looked for it in larger sheets but haven't had any luck. I did find some at Wal-Mart about 10 years ago but none since. I guess I need to hit up the hoppy/craft stores.

I'm sure I have enough carbon paper boxed up for moving to supply you for two more lifetimes. Checking, I found two cases already moved. 45 or 50 pounds to the case, two copy. Two layers of paper, one carbon. 8-7/16" wide, rolls 4-1/2" diameter. The assembly measures about .0075" thick if the core is 1" diameter, makes for about 168 feet per roll. I have 23 rolls in these two cases, barely opened. about 2700 square feet of carbon paper accompanied by 5400 square feet of paper that used to be white. Make me an offer.
Storey-Kenworthy office supply's 2010 catalog lists carbon paper, about $21 to $23 a box of 100 sheets. So a good office supply might still stock or have a source for pure carbon paper. There's a chance its quality would be better than what I have. I think I have some multipart computer paper with carbons too and maybe teletype paper with more layers. USPS is my preferred shipper being only 4 miles to the post office and 25 miles to the nearest UPS office that I know about. Gerald J. |
