I just purchased a set of new rear rims for my 45. They are silver Titan rims. Question: Is there anything I should do to the inside of the of the rim where the tube will be touching. I'd like to protect the tube and tire sealing as much as possible. No liquids going in tube, just wheel weights on the outside for traction.       Thanks, Fred

Fred, I paint the inside of all my rims with Rust-oleum paint. I put on a good coat with a brush.  That works for me. Have a good one    BILL

My Dad has always cleaned the inside really good, slathered brush-on oil base red oxide primer, let dry really well, and then painted the outside as desired. We had some older tires we removed from rims he had painted this way many years earlier, and they looked great. I was convinced, and pretty much follow the same plan as my Dad. Others may have a better idea, but this works for me.

I have some silver titan wheels. The  silver "paint" on mine when new was not primed underneath. Looked to be a coating blown on to hold back the rust til they were delivered.  And lots of weld spatter. I scraped the splatter off, sandblasted  to clean, white metal before  etch priming and topcoating with silver  Sherwin-Williams urathane enamel.  My 4150 Kubota's  rear wheels are replacment Titans, too and  I put them on as they looked decent  . I  refinished the centers, the wheels are now peach colored and the centers are still orange.  Titan could do better, but their wheels would cost more.

After painting apply talcum powder to help mount and keep dry.

David,
That reminded me that in the old days they used cornstarch inside the tires to keep the tubes from sticking to the tires.

I had the same problem with the spalds on my rim. I found that rustoleum primer works well as an undercoat because it is a really thick primer. Also, If you get a good enamel and some hardener I imagine that should last.

Are the holes for the stops on the shift rail spaced right? I bought a new rim for my D17 2 or 3 years ago and I can't put the stop in. Can't remember name of company but it came out of Iowa.
