A friend of mine called me and said he would sell me his 7060 for the price of one rear tire. He takes excellent care of his equipment. He was using it on the grain vac, and a rod started knocking. He didn't have the heart to part it out. I told the wife I would buy it, put the tires on one of my other tractors, and part it out. When I went to pick it up, and saw what it looked like, I can't do it either. Another project.

Get the pan off that machine and verify the rod/main bearing failed, could be just a fuel nozzle that went out and fuel knock or a scoring piston was the culprit, always check to be certain! Could have dropped a nozzle tip and impaled a piston as well.

It wouldn't be the right engine, but there are some Army surplus engines on ebay right now. Stuff one of those in there and go to work. I applaud you for being willing to save a 7060. They are a good old workhorse.
That said, I could use a good set of 11.00-16 fronts and rims like those. Keep me in mind if something goes horribly wrong!
edit-now that I think about that a little, don't blame me if something goes horribly wrong, just know you have somebody interested in buying some parts.

For the price of 1 rear tire you could afford to let it set until you are ready for another project.

As complete as that is, even a full engine OH fits into the economic realm of an 'easy fix'.
