For 2nd qtr 2010:
"In the North American region, sales in the second quarter of 2010 declined approximately 19.3% compared to the second quarter of 2009, excluding favorable currency translation impacts. Lower sales of utility tractors and hay products produced the decline in the North American region."
Heckuva job Ritchie! That Massey all over NA plan working swimmingly!!

Wait till the numbers come out when all the AGCO brand inventory is gone. Their are guys still buying a orange tractor out of pure love of the color. When those last AGCO badged ones are gone it will really hit the fan. |

The NA market is not their primary focus, same as when Deutz owned Allis. And we all know how that turned out. |

I see they are referring to AGCO as "AGCO, Your Agriculture Company" rather than Allis Gleaner Corp.

It's always interesting to read the fine print and interpret what they are saying by reading between the lines.
NSS! If it weren't for SA sales I'd say that AGCO would be in deep doo doo! Overall industry tractor sales were up 2% while AGCO tractor sales fell 19%. Seems like an ominous foreboding of what could happen in the future. Reading between the lines, "There is just so much that happens that we have no control over, the wind the rain and the sun, suppliers, the cost of money and the value of currency. We have no clue what our customers want so we don't know what to make. We have a pile of debt that could cause us to not operate the way we would like. The future cost of employee retirement benefits and severence costs could impact our working capital and thus our ability to expand production and sales. We have a bunch of equipment sold on financing agreements and if those would happen to default we won't have that money either."

Heard all over AgDay the last two days how equipment sales were up. I believe AGCO is feeling the heat of the orange paint loss already. We almost ordered a new White Planter a couple weeks ago but the local dealer was shut down 5 years ago and the dealer from 40 miles away sent out an IDIOT to try an sell us on it. Going green now.
Hey AGCO management.... CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LOCAL DEALERS SELL!!!!!!

Yup. You gotta have "boots on the ground" if you want to sell equipment. Maybe Deere and Case have people trained to travel halfway across the state to buy equipment, but AGCO doesn't have that luxury. At least not now. Maybe someday, but there is a lot of catching up to do. Quite a few poor decisions to recover from.

Anyone see Deere's numbers? JD is on the same track, shutting down small dealers and consolidating the bigger ones. It still seems farmers are going to buy what is available locally, nobody wants to drive 50 miles or more for parts and "hand holding".

I'm thinking that picture could be somebody a little further up the chain of command. Just might be a couple of people at the very top that look like that.
