I sprayed degreaser on my AC engine last night and uncovered the following: L19G
Does this mean it's a D19?
I thought it was a D17... but it evidently is a D19, correct? Or does this have no relavence to the AC model type? By the way, it's gas, not diesel.
FYI - I ended up cutting the hood/nose shell off... so I have the two side panels and the 4 or 5 inch panel that runs from the gas tank to the radiator shell, available for sale. I'll send pics if interested. You'll see that there are no dents and all that's needed is a new paint job. Make me an offer and they are yours...
If interested, please email me at paulhclark@yahoo.com and I'll send you pics (this forum's file size limit is too small for these pics, so I need to email them to you.
Thanks,
Paul

If you have a 4 cyl engine, you don't have a D19. All D19's are 6 cyl gas or diesel. Another big difference is a D19 has a straight through rear axle with the center of the wheel. A D17 has drop boxes on it's rear axle so the axle from the trans is offset with the center of the wheel.

The plot thickens... its definitely a 4 cylinder. What on earth then does L19G mean? Why would they put this on the engine block if it's a D17?My parts guy has already ordered a replacement D17 water pump... so I sure as heck it's that model.

Good chance it's a casting number of some kind. You might ask ML Pankey if he knows. He knows what engine combinations work best for pulling.
