My dead WD45 last week

Last week when it was so hot I started on this 45 because it was under a shade tree. I got it from a frend that let the engine get stuck. He did put it halfway in a barn.  I took the head off and one cylinder had a halfinch of rust , another just light rust and two were clean.  In about four houres I had it turning over.  The head had one valve seat pitted real bad, had to have it ground at a machine shop. $30.  I put it back togather with a new head gasket, cleaded the carb, sedement bowl, gastank, points and sparkplugs.  It starter the first try, had to readjust one valve a little. The old gas in the tank would only half of it would burn where I dumped it.  It holds water, good oil presure , no leaks, and the hydrolis works. 
 I cant tell what all I did to this tractor because none of it would be aproved by a real mechantic.
 Some pictures
 Now I will have to get the good tires and some fenders off the pile and get it finished.

Richard you can fix them the way you want they are your tractors!
I don't post all the off the wall ways I get my tractors back in the field.lol

Hey Richard - based on the Build-a-B project, I'd say that you'd qualify as a 'real' mechanic any day!

Great job Richard.  I am constantly amazed how well the engineers and designers at Allis Chalmers thought through their designs.  Kinda like a timex watch, takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I use my gratebig cutting torch.  Warm it up a little and the rust will pup right off. I cleaned the carb that way also. however you have to stay away from the brass .

Richard, apparently your standards are much higher than mine when it comes to fenders. Personally, I wouldn't know what to do with fenders that have the back corners. Mine have been long since removed by tire chains.

Chris, mine haven't exactly been removed - just sorta folded in on themselves. Not sure what the tractor was used for, but both fenders and the seat were toast when I bought it.
