Any help will be appreciated....I recently purchased a WD with a 3 point hitch. There is no location on the Hydraulic control lever that will "hold" the 3 point somewhere between max up or max down. Either it's up or it's down. Additionally, while discing with this 3 pt, it appears if the disc begins to pull to hard, the 3pt will automatically raise until it begins to pull easier. Two questions:

1) Am I going to damage the hydraulics by simply leaving the Hydraulic control arm in a max up position while traveling between fields etc.?

2) Is it normal for the hydraulics to "self adjust" depending on how hard the implement pulls?

1) No, I don't think it will hurt, although there is supposed to be a hold position in the middle. Someone else might describe how to check that out.
2) Yes, that was the draft control set up called "traction boost" that made the WD what it was. It can be adjusted to not work by following the proper procedure for the hydraulic controls.

There are 3 main adjustments and it sounds like your WD is set for traction booster instead of hold.

First off, I want to sincerely thank CTuckerNWIL, Lester and Don(Mo), the three gentlemen that replied to my request.

Based on their replies, it sounds as if the hydraulics can be adjusted to one of three different ways:
either
1) Drawbar Control (Traction Booster)
or
2) Hold Position
0r
3) Delayed Lift

Based on those three possiblities, I agree,it does sound like my WD is set in the Drawbar Control Mode. It also sounds like if it is set in the Drawbar Control Mode there may or may not be a position other than max up or max down on the Hydraulic Control Lever to hold an implement somewhere between max up or max down. Additionally, it doesn't sound like I will damage anything by leaving the Hydraulic Control Lever in a max up position when transitioning with the equipment.

Ironically, it sounds as if the hydraulics are already adjusted to an optimum setting for what I'm currently using it for. I simply wasn't aware of what normal is for these three hydraulic settings with a WD.

I thought I would just add on to this post because my problem is similar. The pump is set for  drawbar control which seemed to work fine for disking. I bought a 3 pt mower and it seems like the hold position would be better. It sounds like all I have to do to change over is put screw A in and Screw B out which locks the plates together.
Or do I have to go through all the steps?

Gary, Read carefully what is posted above for the hold position.  We used it for years and it worked well.  However, now the tractor and Hyd System are some 57 to 62 years old.  Therefore, things, wear and tear, can happen that we never thought of in 1948 - 1953. 
If you do what is required for the hold position you should hear a click when the detent ball that holds the hyd is in position.   Hopefully you will have to go no further.  If not then you may have to do some internal work on your pump.
