I found a harrow and blade not far from home. Between this disk and the one I already have, I think I can make a good one. The blade is pretty rough. I'll probably have it for sale after I look it over closer, if it is too bad I'll strip off the good pieces and make some more 12" blade extensions. Adam hmmm... can't add pictures for some reason. Sorry to get your hopes up, I'll try again after while! Edited by NCAllisnut - 29 Jun 2010 at 7:17pm |

Adam if you are busting up a disc I need one scalloped disc.I would be happy to buy a left over from you. I also need both of the tilt adjustment screw assemblies for a blade so if you tear down the blade and don't need those parts let me know. Are you going to Denton this weekend? Billy

Here are a couple of pics from last night... better pictures to follow.
Sorry Billy, the tilt screws are the worst looking thing on this blade. My disks are both pretty worn, but I'll send you a picture of what is left over. It won't be anytime soon, it is too hot to play right now!

The disk has some odd features compared to the one I already had. The front gangs are spaced differently than the rear gangs. My other disk has 32 blades, this one has 24 - 2 gangs of 5 on front and two gangs of 7 on the rear. Was there an option to set these up this way originally, or is this just some farmer's creativity at work? The lift chain hooks that go in the lift arm latches look home made also.

Wide spacing on front gangs for better cutting, narrower spacing on ears for leveling. Very, very common in this area.

The lift chain[s] look to be original, the pin bracket looks different then what I had on mine, and what I have seen in past, they look well done and stout. I think originally the bracket at top of chains did not require a lift latch on tractor, small u-shaped piece fit over end of lift arm and pinned.

I've never seen a yellow chain. I've got a couple of orange chains.
