I think I've asked this before, but never got a chance to follow through with any plans since I didn't have a car.  I have a car at school now and am dying to get out of the city tomorrow.  I was thinking of going to the horse races at Belmont or Monmouth, but the races aren't much fun without my Dad, so I was wondering if there might be anyone that has a good collection (maybe Fred?) that would be somewhat close to Philly, PA.  I don't mind driving a couple hours, actually would enjoy it if it included some good scenery along old national/state highways.  Is there anything/anyone that will be around tomorrow that is near?  I'd love to be able to take a day off from school work and the city to see some Allis or just the country in general.  Are there any good shows going on this weekend in this area?

Thanks,
Hurst

The hot dog part is true.  The part about the little red head may be a bit of a stretch lol.  It was a blast to get to see all the collections around the area.  Now I know why I hardly see any of those tractor back home, they're all tucked away in sheds up in PA...

Jay, I won't be able to make the show tomorrow, unfortunately, I have to get back to working on a project with some other people in my class, so Sunday is booked with school work again...

Bring some cheese steaks and milk shakes up for us.
Up north in Schenectady, NY we have a steak sandwich house that makes them really good.
If you want you can get their custom made red sauce on them.

I just plugged in Schenectady, NY into google maps and it said it was a little over 4 hours away.  That will probably be a bit long for a day trip while I am in Philadelphia.  However, my Dad and I are going selling a horse at the horse sales at Saratoga this summer at the end of July and it looks like it is only 45minutes to an hour away from that, so that would be a good way to get away from the sales.

Sorry I was busy baling hay & missed you. Fred could have stopped by here with you but he was afraid I'd put him to work. We had the 7030 in the round baler, I was square baleing with the 175 & the D-17 & WD-45 were raking & tedding. Did Fred mention why he always invites me for a meal AFTER he finds out I am busy? Maybe next time? There's the Menges Mills Steam & Tractor Show just west of York on July 16 & 17. if you need something to do then...Harvey

Schenectady NY, isn't that where Shirley Muldowney is from? Whatever became of her? I remember seeing Shirley and her pink dragster on TV years ago.

I told Fred next time I'll have to bring a change of clothes to work in and jump on the wagon.  I'm heading home on the 2nd of July if everything goes according to plan, so I can be home for the 4th and see my family and friends again for that.  I'm definitely going to have to head back to Hanover again sometime while I am in college.  It reminds me a lot of home, so it makes a great get away place to go to, especially knowing there are so many people on here that live around there!  I'll have to see how the NY trip will work out once we get closer to that date.  I talked to my Dad about it today and he said we could probably make a little day trip while we are up there depending on how the sales are, so hopefully I will get to do some more Allis collection tours!  Yesterday was a blast.  Thank you Fred for showing me around all day yesterday!

I am right in between Fred in Lancaster. Let me know if you want to stop by some time. Lot's to do around here, not too much tractor related around this time of year though. There was a tractor show in a small town not far from me this weekend, but it was small. Rough and Tumble has their threshermans reunion on August, and I'll be posting more information as the time rolls around.

Brian,  I saw Shirley Muldowney a few  years ago at a local IHRA event. She was 62 that year and drove the rail at just over 300 mph that day. Signing autographs, she looked just like any other grandmother.
