Is an international 37 a good baler, and what things should I be looking for that may be worn out on it. I found someone local that has one for sale and might go look at it later tontie.

I don't know about a 37 but when my Dad lived with his step uncle back in the early to mid 50's Uncle Victor had a new 45 baler that was a whole lot of trouble and the knotters were underneath where you couldn't work on them without getting covered in chaff, so Dad says. A whole lot of German was learned by my Dad those years and it wasn't all good.

Lonn is right about the 45. We had one and it was trouble until we traded it in. I do not know about the 37 either but I would be a little shy about it till I talked with someone that has some experience with it.

The International 45 baler was the worst machine I ever dealt with in my tender years.
Dad borrowed one from a guy he worked with, and that was the first time he ever cussed in front of me and my brother and sisters. I don't think it tied but about 5 bales out of the whole field.
Never saw a 37, but if it was an earlier baler than the 45, they sure must not have had the bugs worked out.
Find a New Holland.

I went to look at it tonite. Guy says it hasn't been used in 10 years, then it was 12. It has been stored inside since then, and looks to be in good shape from what I can see. Has a thrower mounted on the back as well. He is asking $350 for it, and it's only 15 miles away so an easy tow home. He has some work to do to get it out of the barn so I am going to try and go over this weekend and pick it up. Found a Allis Chalmers U in the basement, which is what I really have my eye on. |

Dad had a IHC #37 for two weeks and traded it for a N H , Dad said the #37 was the almost as bad as the #45 he traded in on the #37. I don't remember the 37, I do remember the P.O.S. #45. Dad had 200 head on black Angus cows for years and we never had a red baler on the place after the #37. Now I'm not saying that #37 baler is junk, I'M just repeating what Dad said about the red balers. LOL

Well, if you get the U, you might not end up hating the guy or yourself in the end....
You will probably end up with a different baler later though.
