7040 no steering no brakes help please

   i have a 7040 does anyone know which side of the diff. is the pressure side going to the pump and which side is the return?  there is also a chech valve of some sort on the smaller line on the right hand side of the tractor wondering if its to keep oil returned to the rear tub or if its to keep oil from lossing its prime to the pump?  thanks
