what would be a good price to offer on a D17 narrow front, Diesel, snap couple with 4 bottom plow.  Sight unseen, don't know series or condition, just that it runs.

I wouldn't buy one sight unseen because it is an expensive over haul if it needs engine work. I over hauled mine two years ago.  It is a nice tractor thou.
On the high end, a good wide front diesel is worth $4,000.00. A series 4 maybe more.
On the low end, a rough narrow front is worth any where from $250.00/ton to $2,000.00 depending if it needs engine work.

I gave $2500 for my series 1 NF diesel. It ran very good, but needed tires. Come to find out, it had been overhauled but not totally correct. They missed some machine work that caused the head gasket to leak.
