Hi all,
As you may have read here: I now own a WD45, with power steering, which is broke. here is a couple of pics: I believe this is a factory power steering unit correct? I'm no expert, I have a lot to learn about PS units now. As the second pic shows, Dad and I took apart the unit last night, and found the broken part. Which can be seen in the bottom center of the pic. First, are parts available for these units? Anyone have a manual scanned for PS? So we know what the parts are called, etc... none of my manuals mention PS. sad. I'll have to get more I guess. Anyone have any pics of how things should be on the tractor? Should the reservoir be cut through the hood? How should it fasten? I'm wondering if mine is right or not. What type of fluid does a guy use in these systems? regular PS fluid? Mine was empty, except for a dribble of what we think was water. I'll have more pics later (the're on my sisters camera, which is with her) And I'm sure I'll have more questions too! Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Got some more pics!
Here is one broken part that I will need. The tree that fell on the tractor broke it. It is where the thermostat goes in. And here is the reservoir that goes through the smashed up hood. Is this correct? BTW, we already banged a ton of the dents out of the hood. It will never be perfect again, but might be good enough for now. Too many projects, not enough time....

That is not factory. Looks like the common Charr-Lynn PS unit.

Not Allis Chalmers factory, and I don't think that generally the reservoir went through the hood. Most Charr-Lynn's were under the hood.

The Allis factory reservoir fill cap did come through the hood. Here is a good shot of one. You can see the reservoir sticking out of the hood. The gas tractors had a pump on the other side up top that ran off the second vee belt. This diesel has the pump behind the generator.

Thanks all, I stand corrected. In my head I thought the Charr-Lynn was the big ones, its the other way around. So, does anyone have pics of how the charr lynn reservoir should mount? What else do I need to know about Power Steering? Learning more each day!
