The pinion shaft or the input shaft on our 8070 seems to have more freeplay than I have noticed before. Is this something to be real concerned about. Is one of the nuts loose inside or the bearing starting to wear? If I take off the round cover will I be able to do anything with this without totally dismantling it? I am really hoping to get by a couple of weeks yet with it to get through planting. Need a dry spell here in southern IL to finish corn and beans both.

Yes the bearings are getting loose. Had same problem on my 8050, limped it thru last fall. Had dealer check it this winter, had to replace both bearings. So if you have some time, i would pull apart and try to tighten bearings, maybe you can save them
