started to part out a  C today to my surprise it has a cast valve cover and oil pan.Is this common ? never saw one before but have heard of wc having them.

I think it's a war years tractor. The cast pans and valve covers usually bring around $75 ea if in good shape. Not really rare, but collectible. I have three different styles of oil pans, but have only seen one style of valve cover.  Check the final drive covers as well. They should be cast also.

During WWII we never knew what we were getting.  We were just glad to get ANYTHING!
Cast valve covers, cast oil pans, cast final drive pans, and half breed - steel back wheels rubber front.
