We have an 8030 with a rebuilt engine, head and injectors.  After about 3hrs. of use I noticed there is a popping sound out of the exhaust, sounds just like a 2 cyl. JD is parked next to it.  Any ideas what this would be?  Injection pump was not touched.

Exhaust valve broke....stuck open maybe......exhaust gasket blown out on one cylinder....would almost have to stand beside it when it is running for me to tell.  I am no expert.   Maybe an injector has blown out.

Pull the valve cover....push rod jumped out of place....adjuster screw backed out..etc..may not be serious.

Could be a bad injector. I have had that before after getting nozzles done. Kept ruining the nozzle on the same injector. I ended up replacing the complete injector and have had no trouble since. My tractor was making a horrible popping noise , but would also blow a lot of smoke that would burn your eyes like onions.
Crack the injectors one by one and isolate the bad cylinder. Remove the injector and get it tested. Or move it to another posiiton and see if the problem goes to another cylinder. Eugene
