I have been using Etching primer for years now. I usually use it on bare metal only, properly preped/washed with Laq. thinner before spraying. Can Etching primer be used over good, sound , exisiting, paint? I'm doing some AC L+G decks, and wondered what evryone thought of the "POR15" products? Are they good product? These deck shells have some pitting, rust on topside. I plan to grind off, clean, and POR15.Thnks

Chris, I do not actually know the answer to your question. But, I question why you would want to. If you have a good base, all you need to do is rough it up some and put your color coat on. the purpose of the etcher primer is to give the second coat something to hang on to. the good base you have, roughed up will give you that.

Lou, I hear you. The original paint is so-so, and only covering about 1/2 of the area. guess I could just spray prime bare/affected areas and do as you say.
