D17 rear main seal ?

how do the little E or F shape gaskets go under the rear main cap ?..I've searched but all I can find is under the rear main bearing cap. I didnt see any on taking apart.. does the gaskets go between the felt seal??

Yes, the F shaped gaskets go under the rear main cap, they go around the felt seal or as you say between the felt seal halves.  The last guy to have it apart may not have had the small gaskets or may not have know where they go.  HTH

so how do they go in.. i've turned them every direction.. F. Does the top of the F face the crank??

just figured out that the after market gasket set is'nt correct.. the F gaskets are wrong,also pulled out the new rear main seal because the felt doesn't look thick enough to seal properly..I just dont trust them... Just ordered from Dean Ag..to be on the safe side.. I would hate to have it leak and have to pull engine again...
