Does anyone have a B or CA with a mower for sale near the western Illinois (Canton, Macomb, Galesburg, Peoria) area? Looks like I may get a little money back after figuring my taxes and would like to find something better to mow a couple of acres of lawn as well as keep mowed around some pasture fence and lanes between fields. Would prefer something with a wide front end but would consider narrow front as well. Thanks. |

I just got one (Model C), and they are awesome. Maybe a C would work also, but the come out with narrow front only. I am glad mine is a narrow front. Wide front's can be used and abused and will take some money to re-new.

I have A CA wide front and a C Narrow front both with Woods mowers. I'd much rather mow with the narrow front. They turn tighter. don't have a axle sticking out to catch on things and don't scuff the grass like a Wide front trying to make a tight turn.

I have a narrow front C for sale in SW MO. Good little tractor. but a little rough around the edges. I have a 6 ft belly mount finish mower I had on a CA, so it should fit, but isnt currently mounted up. I would take $850 for the complete setup, or $650 for the tractor. 417-850-4532

Adam, that doesn't look too bad. Give her a little degreasing and a bath, be good as new.
I notice a few differences between that one and mine. First, seat is different. Monroe-matic seat? Starter has a pull-type rod. Mine is push-rod. Has a distributer. Retro-fitted from a CA maybe? Do you have the tractor ser# and engine ser#?
Also, I noticed you have the same modified 4-lug front wheel as I do.LOL! Mine isn't broken, I think someone just lost one.

Dream - I meant to buy some other bolts for the front wheels, but never got around to it. The holes are good, just no bolts. Im not sure what brand the seat is, but it is certainly aftermarket. The pull rod on the starter seems to be "aftermarket" as well. I dont know either number off the top of my head, but the year on the tractor checks out as a 1945.

If the motor number is right, i'd say you definitely have a swapped-in distributer. Mine is a 1946. It has a mag.(course, it also has a 1940-41 B-series Kerosene engine instead of the CE series it should have.) My son's 1949 and dad's 1950 both have original engines and mags.
