Hey guys...
So, im getting my C ready to paint, and so i took off the housing that runs from the top of the head to the radiator. I looked up inside, and sure enough, there looks to be a thermostat in there.. Ive never seen anything like it.. It has the little unit on a spring and everything. Were these a factory option, something aftermarket, or something somebody rigged up in their garage?? It looks really cool.. I'll get some pictures...

That is the way they were. The spring holds the thermostat in place.

Lanse, if yours is still in one piece, you're lucky. My spring was rusted to pieces, and the brass thermostat wasn't much better. I have evrything removed and running without the thermostat right now. Not a good idea in cooler weather. You can check the thermostat by putting it in a pot of water on the stove. Turn the heat on and put a thermometer in the pot. You should see the thermostat open at the set temperature(which I don't know). Someone on here should be able to tell you.
