D17 series III gas.  Oil pan gasket set.  I know the two long gaskets go on the side, the other 2 medium sized cork gaskets go on the curved portion of the oil pan, but where do the little C shaped felt gaskets go?  Also, how do I hold the cork gaskets in place?  Would some black RTV sealant work?

The felts are the rear main seals - you have to split the tractor to put them in.  I"m waiting 'til I get my spring kleenup done, then pulling the loader off, splitting the old girl and putting in the felts as right now she leaks like the Exxon Valdez.
I put the end cork pieces in a small can and left them rolled up for a day or two before putting them it.  Gets them kinda round anyway.  I tried the RTV, didn't work for me.  Weatherstrip glue works good, I was able (with help) to hold mine in place whilst hoisting the oil pan up - slowly.  It is a real dance to get them in place and stay there.  When tightening up the oil pan, the front one on mine wanted to squirt out - I hadda put in back in place a coupla times.
It's not fun, but after a while you get the hang of it.  Hope I never have to do it again.
cheers,
Creek

Do not use silicone. If you don't put on a thick bead it will not spread {Crush} even and will cause leaks.
I use Permatex High-Tack to hold gaskets in place.
Could that 2 piece seal be the rear crakshaft seal?

I buy the AC pan gaskets because it has the little clips that hold the flat corks to the curved oil pan and have the E shaped gasket for under the rear main bearing cap.  The little clips make it sooo much easier!!!! Should be thick and thin felt seals, thin ones are for WDs and WD45s,  thick ones are for D17 and 170s.  HTH
