Brother in law retired a few years ago from STL Metro, stays in touch with a couple old co workers. Asked of the now super quiet news of EV transit buses in town. Of the 24 that are still here 0 are operational and sit at Cummins MO unable to be used. Cannot stop coolant leaks on the batteries.

Hmmm...
I always thought that if electric vehicles had any valid application it would be in city usage in relatively warm climates. Seems as though they found a way to defeat that as well |

What happened is the EV promise was made before the bugs worked out, Li batteries get REALLY hot discharging and recharging, have to have method to cool and as well warm them so CAN accept/retain a charge in deep cold. Not a best idea for a storage cell, especially that should it get Internally Wet auto ignites.

I can sympathize with them having issues. I bought for at house an electric C C 42" Zero turn mower at a super good sale price. It has 32 hours and only the lights will work; no motion For or Rev and the blades do not turn. Still under warranty, 2 yr on mower & 3 yr on batteries, sitting at dealer & they don't seem to have a clue. IF they don't call by late Febr I'll stop in and bother them a little.

yeesh WHAT could be 'complicated' about a battery powered rider ? Pretty sure I have the CC tech manuals for them( part of MTD...) looked into them 5-6 years ago ( preCHINAVirus ) ,wow , been awhile At the time they were x2+ over gas, and 'lousy' real use time..but curious about the blade motors and 'how-it-works'. Dealers HAVE instant access to manuals, wiring , tech bulletins so NO excuse to not 'look-diagnose-repair' in a reasonable amount of time. I'll have a look on this PC to see IF I can find what I have... |
