A while back it was posted here about using a Corvette gear in the A-C distributer tach driives and there was some discussion I saw about some differances. Not sure how that thread played outbut I ordered one and due to snow, mud, busy etc I just got around to putting mine in. As compared to what was in my D-19 the replacement is identical in all critcal dimentions. I intalled it on the bench and it turns real smoth dictating that meshing is OK. i see no problems with them, save yourself $75 and a trip to your  Massey Chalmers dealer. Mine was $26 delivered to my door from Virginia Vettes. Nice folks too.

I had ordered one also Fron "Virginia Vettes" But it doesn't work, the helical gear on mine measures 0.030" smaller in diameter then the original, and doesn't quite mesh well.   I don't want to put it in yet I am affraid it will strip the distributor gear.

Hey Matt, I'm not sure what is going on with your gears, Maybe two different styles? Partsbook only shows one. Another thing that throws the mesh off is wear in the mainshaft and bushing, my distributer was worn so bad you could grab it at the top and close or open the points at will and my small tach gear was completely trashed in the middle where meshes but the mainshaft gear is about 90%. I refused to give AGCO $100 for the little gear and like I said my replacement is an exact match for the worn out one I removed and meshes perfectly, not sure why yours is differant?  I dont like mysterys but A-C tach mysterys are the story of my life lately, LOL. I am also trying to retore my 220 generator driven tach  to working condition.

I have not had to source the cables as mine are intact but  pretty sure Norm's toys will have them.
