My father has a 1972 Allis-Chalmers 170 that recently has had some work done on it. The mechanic fella was not all that familiar with this transmission but was able to get the main issue in the transmission resolved. Upon putting the tractor back together he recommended new clutches for the power director and installed them and it went together "too easy". In fact it was too easy as when they started the tractor up the main transmission works fine and dandy but when put into neutral the power director will not release. They have split the case a couple more times making certain things are as they should be but not being able to resolve the issue.
If anybody has any input, experience or straight up answers to this please feel free. If more information is needed don't hesitate there either as I don't like to see the old man so frustrated....thanks. |

How about the special keyway's in the lever?? I watched it being done by a Expert, one of those details that's easier said than done.

If they put in new disc it will need to be reshimed and no need to split tractor to shim it
