Dad's RC is an original crankstart model with the factory plug in the starter hole. Since we have some good WC starters, we decided to put one on this tractor. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the flywheel already had a ring gear on it, making this conversion really simple. We will just use a WC/RC battery box, starter, & starter rod from our WC parts stash. Probably won't even mess with a generator, lights, etc.. Just charge the battery occasionally. Has anyone found a RC without the ring gear or provision for a ring gear on the flywheel, or did the factory just use the same flywheel on all RCs, including the ring gear? Kip |

I found that most tractors or power units that had a hole for a starter had the ring gear on it. Bob

Makes good sense to be able to go electric start without splitting the tractor to change flywheels or add a ring gear. The early Bs WO E start did not have a hole for a starter and the flywheel was plain with no place for a ring gear. Changing them over was major parts investment.

Kip as I said before I had RC8 crankstart and it had the ring gear on flywheel. also the tin cover that fills the hole where starter goes is interchangable with the cover in the rear end housing. I still have the RC model for you guys, ill bring it to Madison SD next aug, take care an say hello to Mom and Dad. Mark L
