Hopefully within the next week or less we will have our new DT 205b to get ready for planting. Looked long and hard at several brands, but thought the Agco has some of the best features compared to the other colors. This will be our first CVT orange. Looking forward to it.

Congrats on the new orange, just sad that they won't be making any more after this year. seems they really came up with a good machine, and then killed them off. I guess a Massey(Makes me gag a little to even think of them in the same family, let alone the same tractor) would be the same machine.

It took me a couple months just to get over the emotional part of Agco stopping the orange paint. Back in Nov , I would have said no way would I buy an Agco. But it is a very good product. Who knows what will happen in the Ag industry. I have heard rumors that Agco has had discussions with CNH on purchasing that company. I guess anything but JD could be for sale.

Would you have bought it if you could only get it in MF red?

Byron, the short answer would be no. We were real close to buying a used JD 8410. Agco did finally respond to a survey that I mailed in back in Dec for our combine. I think they have been listening to what everyone has to say and who knows what will happen in the next year. Agco should have taken this a little slower and see how the new DT series would sell and compete with JD and CNH.

I hear ya. AGCO does have a good product that compares favorably to any of the other top brands. They just have inept upper management and really very few dealers. Right now their prices are still slightly below Deere despite their list prices going up so it makes them tempting. Still, I don't see them hanging around too long. I think they'll loose market share with their current move and I think Challenger will go back to loosing money and eventually sink the ship.
I honestly don't know what to do but I'm stubborn enough to know I'm not going with AGCO anymore. I don't think AGCO will buy CNH but I think it's possible that Fiat will bury CNH to keep Chrysler afloat. Deere really seems to be the only stable option and that kind of makes me queasy. |
