I took a very interesting survey the other day.  It asked about my feelings on equipment purchase, AGCO and Challenger.  I tried printing stuff out but it didn't work.  By the time I figured it out I was half way done.

First they asked you to pick two pictures that depicted how you felt.  Then you put one word to that picture.  Then you could type in your description of that picture/word combination.  One of the questions was how you would want to feel after purchasing a piece of equipment.  One question was how you felt about your dealer.   Here's the scene from the question about how does owning an AGCO make me feel?

Here's the question on how it would feel to own a challenger.

I pretty much answered the questions with some of the same thoughts I've expressed on here without the detail.  I wonder if they'll care?  It seems weird that they'd call me except I'm sure they got my name/number from AGCO corporate from my past purchases.

When they called asking for my email on it they said I had 1 in 700 chance of winning a HD TV and some other stuff.  They also said I'd get a $25 gift card for filling out the survey which turns out to be an Amazon gift card.  They asked for my email and phone number but never my address so I wonder how I'll get the gift card?

Anyway, it was an interesting survey and I liked it.  Most of them have check boxes that never seem to fit just right.  They had that too at the end but picking the pictures was the fun part.

Sounds like spam to me, or a scam?

If it was it was a scam sponsored by Challenger.  The guy said it was before I gave him my email and it's pretty obvious throughout the survey.  In the end you have a choice to choose between Deere, New Holland and Challenger.

Very interesting, I have not heard of anything like this happening. Did the guy mention a dealership or something like that behind it? Or did you feel like it was corporately sponsored.

Also, your gift card is probably just going to be a code you will receive in an email, and you just have to enter it at the checkout cart for Amazon for credit.

Hey steffensen,
I asked the guy on the phone before I gave my email to him who sponsored it and he said Challenger.  It's from a firm on the East coast and looks to be high end and expensive.  My guess is corporate.

Around here we have one Challenger dealer and it's only about a year old.  Rumor is AGCO dished out a million bucks for this big CAT dealer to put a Challenger one in.  They had a big party with lots of give away and demos that I didn't attend but was called on.  They plunked this thing right down the road from my AGCO dealer and it was close to two other AGCO dealers.  They called me to invite me to their grand opening and my AGCO dealer said they got my name from their AGCO database.  They were pretty miffed at it at the time.   Anyway, the only other Challenger dealer I've ever seen/driven by in person is in Columbus Ohio where I used to live.

My pictures for my first two questions were peaceful and positive.  They had to do with how I wanted to feel after an equipment purchase and about my dealer.  I wish I would've figured out the printing wasn't working before now.

These are the people that put on the survey:

Anyway, I really liked the survey.  It was a ton better than all the "check the box that best describes you" ones.  Those you eventually just check something to be done with.

Hey Byron,
I was just wondering because I had never seen that type of survey before from agco. I have no doubt your information is in the company's database. It does appear to be a very professional firm. I wonder how many people they are going to try and question. Or what they use as criteria for picking candidates. (not knocking you, just a question)

I'll also bet there were some serious hard feelings started with the new dealership moving in on established territories. It's probably bad enough when a true competitor moves in let alone, a "sister" brand.

I would be interested in seeing the final results of this survey. I am going to need to keep my eye out for stuff.

Yeah and the sister brand gets 4wd articulated tractors, tracked tractors and sprayer equipment non of which you can sell.  Plus, from my standpoint you could buy it all yellow including balers, mowers and combines!

They said that they were only picking 700 people.  Gives me pretty good odds of winning that big screen TV or Blu-Ray player!

Hey I'm big time!  I've owned 9 pieces of AGCO equipment, (still have eight), all of it AGCO brand except my Sunflower drill.  Course a lot of it is small stuff. LOL

I find it odd that anyone at AGCO cares what a customer thinks. This might be a new development!
I still don't understand the reasoning behind AGCO being all hot and bothered about hooking up with CAT service. My AGCO dealer offers as good and many times better service than the CAT dealer. I don't much care for the cold impersonal feeling of a mega conglomerate CAT dealer.
If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!
