I sold an offset disk a couple weeks ago on Ebay, the man paid me via PayPal. I got the notice I was paid, but PayPal will hold the money until the gentleman picks up the disk and leaves positive feedback. PayPal told me to have the man leave feedback before he left my place with the disk, that way he can't go home and file a dispute and get his money back.
Second straw; I bought a heat exchanger for my fireplace a couple of days after the disk sold, the seller tells me that his PayPal account is frozen, and he can't process my order or refund my money, and that I have to file a dispute to get PayPal to give me my own money back. PayPal says within a couple of weeks they should be able to solve the claim, meanwhile the have $900 of my money setting their I can't touch, but they have collected their fees, anyway anyone else dealt with this? I am through messing with PayPal, and maybe even Ebay! I've been a member since 96' but I guess they are an extension of the government or something!
Thanks for the vent!
Shawn

I've already closed both my Ebay and PayPal accounts.  If I want to buy something, it's YT's ads or word of mouth or Craig's list somewhere nearby so that I can go look at it and decide for myself whether I want it or not.  Ebay was good before they got greedy and fee laden...and don't even get me started on PayPal.

I've reached a point with Ebay & PayPal, that I only buy a few low dollar items on Ebay and I generally use PayPal to pay for it.  They've screwed up Ebay from a seller's standpoint so bad that all the seller can do is lose.  I used to sell various car parts and farm machinery parts, but no more!

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

I have also largely quit dealing with Ebay, especialy on higher dollar items. Largely because of the Paypal rip off, partialy beause of all the thieves and their refusal to deal with them. They make money when thieves use the service and in my opinion they only give lip service to doing anything about it. The last straw for me was I sold a saw last fall and put a few extra pics on the ad but not much else extra. Saw sold for like $800 and by the time I paid for the ad and the required Paypal charges they took over $55 from the sale and then kept my money for 10 days before they would release it, pure BS. I realy dont have a problem paying for services rendered but requiring Paypal and taking more of my money simply for jollies then sitting on it for 10 days makes my hackles rise. Rant over.

I had to cancel a card because of PayPal. Fortunately my bank valued me as a customer and fully reimbursed me from the fraudulent charges. PayPal pretty much told me to eat it. Never again. I seldom buy anything on Ebay anymore. If I do, I always email the seller that U.S. Postal money order is the only way I can pay. Most say no problem.

I`ve never had problems with either one, But I`m sure getting tired of the ebay not for the best changes. Can`t find anything anymore without going thru a whole bunch of hoops to get there, and them wade thru hundreds of stuff that shouldn`t be on the list.

I just bought a tractor on ebay. Contacted the seller and arranged for direct payment. I can't believe the ominous warnings I got from ebay over dealing directly with the seller. It was a smooth transaction and a two hour drive to retrieve the tractor, seller is a great guy and I may go back just to see what he has sitting around. I'm with you guys guys on the PITA at ebay and paypal though. If I can't make a simple transaction I don't do it.

I still use ebay, but I always ask seller ahead of time if the'll take a Money Order because I won't use PayPal by choice. I have never been turned down, and in fact I frequently get responses from sellers saying what a PITA PayPal is, and they would rather get payment in any other form.

Ebay warns you about a direct transaction because they want you to use PayPal, which is a company they own.

I use paypal to get payment for products that I make and sell as well as buy things from ebay. Been several years and several thousand dollars a year and I have yet to have a problem with paypal.
