plow for sale

I have a 4-14 allis plow for sale works good, I used it this past fall. everything sand blasted and painted but coulters and tail lift wheel. also has the gauge wheel.  it is the age of wd45-early D-17 I think that makes it a 60 series. make offer?

hey chris would you email me a few close-ups of the gauge wheel and bracket/clamp on that thing? i am going to try to fabricate one for mine if i can't find another one

Butch - you and me both.  Have two with them but would like one to go on that 3-16's 73 I bought last summer.

Chris - that slanted mainframe beam going out for the 4th bottom on your plow is the most tell-tale way to determine it's a Model 64 plow.  The smaller square tube cross brace is the next way.  The slanted shank coulters I believe could have appeared on early 70 series plows but were a feature of the 60 series. When did they switch from the short beaming screw to the long one? I have a 63 with the short one like on a 53, but you guys say this is a 60 series too. Did it get switched in the middle of the series? And how do you tell this 64 from a 74?

Rfdeere - the longer beaming screw on the 63 is due to it being a 4 bottom vs. 3 bottom I beleive.

To tell the 64 vs the 74 just look at the photo above of the 84 sitting next to it (ignore the spring trip bottoms and it pretend it's a 74).  Some items to spot:
* 70 series has adjustable frame as Butch points out.  All the main beams are squared off.  If you look closely you can see some double bolts where the frame beams overlap and bolt together.  That's where you unbolt and adjust from 14 to 16 & back.
* 74 has larger square tube cross brace that I mentioned above
* 70 series has taller plow beams for more trash clearance
* later 70 series has coulter shafts at 90 degree angles like in the photos
* beaming screw mounts differently in back on 74

Plow coulters were used for many different frames, just like some bottoms. There were fewer coulter models than plow frame variations. Most clamped on the plow beam in front of the bottom. And while the 2000 series plow is taller there is a bar just above the plow moldboard sticking forward to carry the standard coulters that could have been on a 60, 70, or 80 plow frame.

My booklet shows that the 1960 model 74 has the smaller square tube  and no square tube on the pre 1960 models. They are the high clearance  models !
