What is a 185 Fixer Upper Worth?

   I know this is a loaded question, but what do you think a fair price is for a 185 that is currently running but not exactly the picture of health. It is leaking water into the oil.

I figure it is a gamble. It could be the orings or it could be more. If its orings I figure a sleeve and ring kit with gaskets would be in the 1500 to 1800 dollar range assuming nothing else is required. However with water in the oil and not knowing exactly for how long I figure having the crank turned and bearings would be a good idea. I am off the cuff guessing that it could easily become $2500 or more in just a repair to get her running tip top with no paint or anything with me doing the work.

If anybody thinks my repair only estimate is high or low it would be good information too.

	Its prolly the o-rings leaking, or could be electrolics too, [pitting in the sleaves] either way it needs to be overhauled; I noticed some kits on Ebay around $950; I used to go thru Agco for overhaul kits; but no more ; I would,nt give over $2000 for the tractor - but the rest of it would have to be -GREAT- for that [ my opinion] ; its always the unexpected cost thats fun, but that happens ; you should be able to get her running good under the $2500 figure if you do most your self, labor cost always take the fun out of a project ; Hurst just redone a 301, he,ll be on here

	Thanks Doug, I was thinking 1800 to 2000 dollars tops, so it seems I'm thinking along the same lines as you. I can do everything except turn the crank on a full rebuild, and I know a local shop that can do that for me. I tend to go all out on a rebuild instead of doing the minimum. I figure it pays in the long haul. Your right its always the unexpected gotcha's that really add the spice.

	May not be the case here but my uncle's 301 in 7020 had such bad bore erosion(bottom) that it had to be sleeved.One more cha-ching.
