We got a notice in the mail this fall that we owed a toll for a toll road in Kansas. We have never been to Kansas and the license plate doesn't match any of our vehicles. Not even close. We are on the third notice, do you try to straighten this out, or ignore it? Is it a scam? Thats the problem with all this new electronic crap they don't always get it right and then you have to spend more time fixing someone's screw up. We went thru one in Illinois this fall first time I had been thru a toll booth in ages. Last time I was thru one you thru a little change in the basket and the gate opened or there was someone to hand your money to. That one we paid online.

I don't know if the contact is easy, or if they will appreciate it.  Worth one try if you're so inclined.  They just started camera reader system and I'm sure it's full of bugs.  Your choice and I don't know how aggressive they get.  My only experience is with TX.

I got a toll bill from Texas last year after I got my new pickup, bill said it was the dealer tag. I think someone changed the numbers on a dealer tag to scam the system.
I called the number on the bill 2 or 3 times, finally got someone to look it up and they said the vehicle didn't match the tag, haven't heard from them except to renew my toll pass...

Only have but ONE toll road here in Ontario, OWNED by foreigners of course(we built it though, plow snow, cops for speeders, etc....)
The BIG deal is that if YOU don't pay the toll, Ontario guv PULLS your driver's license !!!

That's right ,effectively drive on private property and you lose your license !

BEST scam I ever heard...in the early years( yeah BEFORE we sold the rights'.... guy racked up $$$ in tolls but they couldn't find him. Finally someone did a search for all plates ABCxxx and xxx789. ONE 'hit' stuck as ONE guy had both plates !!!! He SHOULD have used a stolen plates, instead he used 2 of his old ones  to 'cut and paste' a new plate. oopsy......
