What kind of tire? The tire guy in my shop was mounting tires that had been at the bottom of a stack and couldn't get the beads seated. We tried ratchet straps around the tires even ether. We all figured the ether would do it. It's not nearly as flammable as it used to be. It pretty much burned like gasoline spilled on the floor. They ended up buying a bead "Cheeta" to get them seated.

3 seconds act. gas from cutting torch in tire. One quick spray of starting fluid from bead of tire to floor, about 3 ft long , match and air hose.

Coats 20/20  tire machine.  Paid $50 for it from craigslist, and haven't looked back.   All teh modern shops have to go to the mchines that don't touch the rim due to expensive alloy rims, so teh old rim clamp and screw clamp machines sell for a song.

I agree about the flammability of modern aersol sprays.  They have made them very mild anymore.

Rachet straps around the outside fo the tire always has treated me well with the small tires.   If worse comes to worse, and it's an offroad tire, I put a tube in it.

If it's one of those Military OZ 37 inch 6 ply sidewall tires they put on the humvees, thne forget bout it without a split rim.  Sure, they are nice looking tires, but you'll drive yourself crazy trying to get teh 6 ply sidewals stretched.

I've watched the pros at the tire shop struggle with my skidloader tires...they seem to be the worst. They have what they call an "air cannon", looks like a modified portable air tank with a duckbill outlet.  I'm not sure what is in it besides air, but it makes quite the "boom" when they set it off.

I have had to use a cable around them and twist it up with a handle but keep it right in the center and it should push out the side walls. If you can get the back side toi stay on there just very gentally pull it up onto the  front  bead.but take the guts out of out of your stemso you are getting as much air as you can.I use to do alot of tire when I had the gas station and boy can they fight you.Even with a blow ringon the 40 40 a coats iv had to use all sorts of combinations even either but be careful i have had them jump off the ground pretty high .It was fun back then ,now I think of safety  since im alot older.Slit rims use to get me a little worked up but never got real seriosly hurt with those but a few minor hurts that that made me think hard about doing more .

Eldon, that's a bead "Cheetah". It's just an air tank with a large ball valve to let it all out in a hurry.

Burgie,
Did you buy those tires some flowers and dinner first, or were they dirty, dirty tires that could be seated in the back seat of any car?

Why does this remind me of this girl I knew they called 10 ton tina?

Oh that's right, she mounted used tires in the back of the gas station.

...but she had a heart...   didn't quit until the job was done. I can still smell the vulcanized patches.

When I bought the new 18.4 X 24 for the back of the 715B TLB I tried for 3 or 4 hours to get them to seat to rims. Chains, comealong, either, air hose , quite a few words and few other ideas.
Went back to shop I got tires fron and they said they would seat them for me.. Well 2 hours later they had 4 guys sweating and still not on beads. Took 3 cheetas and cable come along around tires to get them to pop on.

14" 1 1/2" hydraulic hose plumbed right out the end of my 80 gallon compressor tank with a ball valve and a 6" nipple flattened down on the end.  Lock the tire filler onto the valve stem stand the tire against the wall/welder/what ever is nearby and give her one quick blast.  Saves a lot of time.  Have given thought to making up an extra tank plumbed in to the air system in the shop just for the difficult 'super single' used truck tires we use for wagons and manure spreader.  Sometimes they take two or three shots and you have to wait for the compressor to catch up.

some guys use a bicycle inter tube around the bead. There also is a rubber ring the is put in the bead gap. When you start to fill the tire it slips out of the bead and lets the tire seat. Both have to be greased to work. I've used silcone culk on the valve side flip the tire over wait for the culk to dry then flip it back over. The waight of the tire seal the bottom bead, Might work with gasket tack also. Use to work for a logging operation. We had a lot of problem tires. Got told buy our tire supplier, either voids the tire waranty

Liberal amounts of axle grease on the tire and the rim, a big compressor with a ball valve on the hose where you can blow air in around the bead.
