I am closing on getting goals done before winter. One of them was to get the motor out of the 15 and on the engine stand. Well I got that finished today but ran into something I could not and maybe will never desyphur.
All but one of the bolts holding the clutch on had the outermost castillation knocked off like there had been a big time clash with something, I could find nothing that had been beating itself together in there. I also found a small chunk of cast iron (about 3/16 inch thick and 7/16 in diameter) lodged behind the thing that looks like an oil service attacment to the rear of the cam (sorry did not take time to look up the correct name).
Anyone have any theories as to what went on in there?

Can you post pics of clutch and pressure plate? The oil service you describe is the oil pump. Cast iron piece could be from stater. Pics will help. If you are replacing clutch and pressure plate, best not to buy aftermarket, and possibly AGCO either. They are not correct for the most part. HTH Tracy Martin

If a person does not go aftermarket or AGCO, what do yu suggest on the clutch. I need the disk as a minimum.
I can't find any stater nose damage. I think it wil just remain a mystery.

Possible explanation: It could have come from a previous starter nose cone. If so, no one bothered to retrieve the broken piece. Posting a picture of the broken piece might help to identify it. HTH
