I have read the replies on the AGCO decision to limit it's production to just the Massey & Challenger tractors here in the good ol' U.S.A. These brands are identical to the orange AGCO tractor right? I am a small farmer with only a 7060, but the newer features of the CVS transmissions, front wheel drive suspensions, new cabs, only to name a few, sound like incredible components!!!?? If I were a larger farmer who had a chance to buy a newer tractor, I own one of these great machines. And, I would paint it Allis orange!!!Why then, couldn't loyal orange farmers purchase a new Massey or Challenger and have it painted Allis Chalmers Orange? Leave the logos as correct id, but just paint it up as Allis orange. Would painting it cause any legal quams? I know that logos need to be left alone and should not be changed for legal purposes, but I'm not sure about paint? Imagine the ralleying mechanics, dealerships, farmers, & farm enthusiast would have with that? Farm newspapers, farm magazines, RFD tv, & internet would all have a great topic to discuss!!!

If we painted it orange, it might look like this;
This is an MF touched up a bit. |

You can do that with a Deere or CNH too. As long as you buy An AGCO product, you are saying you agree with Agco's decision to eliminate Orange.

You can both paint it and rebadge it all you want, it's yours. Only if you were to buy an apple paint it orange and try to sell it as an orange would you get into problems.

A tractor painted orange does not make it an AC. Remember, true Allis Chalmers tractors were made up until 85.

It's not just the paint, people feel like they have been lied too, cheated, and told that your brand is not important enough to even matter here in the real world.

Eric, you are right with your thinking.
The management at AGCO could have an ORANGE version of their tractors if they wanted and it is no big deal to do it. In my opinion, Agco marketing has upper management convinced the ORANGE color is not worth it anymore to add value to the business in North America. I worked for a high volume copier/duplicator manufacturer here in Rochester, and we did the different color thing to our products. And we even made money doing it. Again, it's MARKETING............. |

From a UK point of view, I agree with others who say Allis died in 85. As far as new tractors go, John Deere, Claas and Valmet. The only companies who are who they say they are, and not part of some worldwide corporation/conglomerate.

If it seems like a good idea, do it. It's easier to apologise than to get permission.

I'm a proud owner of a JCB 185 Robot, even if the injector pump on the PERKINS (Cat) engine is leaking like a sive. The problem with JCB is their tractors are great for a few farmers but there are a lot of growers who don't want that big (or small) a tractor.

I dont get the reasoning that the orange color is not marketable in N. America. R-Aiken said Kubotas are orange. He's right, and they have nearly taken over the compact market. They were the ones who got JD, CNH, and the rest into high gear in the compact market 'cause they were running away with it. In the last several years, Kubota has gotten more and more into the midsize market, and from what I hear, people like them a lot. So AGCO can't say it has a dang thing to do with the color. It's just some egg-head-kiss-up- bean -counter that thinks he had a brain storm. He really just had a brain-fart, and like most cases like this, when AGCO realizes they screwed up, that guy wont have a job anymore, and good riddance to him. I'm of the opinion that Allis died in 85, like a lot of people. The principles and morals that made Allis-Chalmers the company that it was are long-gone, just like the period of time in this country when they prospered. Everyone in corporate America these days is too busy selling out to overseas so they can get a little more stinking rich and finish killing off the country that gave them the opportunity to do so. Sorry, that got kinda political and angry, but i'm over it now. Had to vent a little. Anyway, doesn't matter what color it is, i'll kep fixing the REAL ones. Dream.
