Does anyone have info on how to remove the narrow front end on my WD? More specifically how the steering linkage comes apart when entering the axle. Thanks Jerry

There is a u-joint inside the right frame rail connecting the steering shaft to the worm gear shaft in the top of the pedestal. Disconnect the u-joint and pull the steering wheel up a little. Remove the bolts holding the bearing retainer and pull the shaft,retainer and worm from the back of the pedestal. The best investment you can make in a tractor is a manual. Darin has them here.

The easiest way is to take the u-joint apart along side the engine.  You'll also need to take the bolt out of the steering support block.  When I did mine, I took the left side frame rail loose and used a bottle jack to jack it out a bit, then used a pry bar to pop the casting out of the right rail.  When you put it all back together, make sure you have the steering shaft support turned the right way before you tighten the casting back up.  I forgot and it was a *%(*^% fun job getting that back without pulling the casting back out.  Total time to swap narrow with wide fronts on mine was about an hour, I think.  Just remembered, the left radiator bolt has to come out to piull the frame rail.  3/4" socket on a 3/8" ratchet extenstion.  Put the extension through the hole in the bottom of the frame rail, then put the socket on.  Just a trick I picked up a few years ago.
